Gross Food and Funny Signs

Jim and Keelan had an excursion to an open market one morning in Guangzhou.  Here are a few of the yummy sights they saw.

Chickens

Duck head.  Mmmmm!

Snakes.  Nom nom!

Justin's favorite . . . squid.

Crocodile.  Jim, Caylie, and I had some of this one night.

Pig feet.

Tongues.  Yummy!

Pig brain attached to the spinal cords.  Mmm mmmmm!!

And these weren't in the market, but at a grocery store.  Fresh squid in a package.
And now for the signs.  We did not have to use any squatty potties, fortunately.  Caylie did once, and knew just what to do.

This one is my favorite.

Be sure to note step.  This photo is just of two steps, but it said that on each step of the whole stairway.

This sign was in the bathroom in Starbucks on Shamian Island.  So glad it wasn't in our hotel bathroom, because I've heard of hotels having signs like this!

Please don't let strangers your room.

Yeah, you don't mess around.

Feet can be germy.  Please disinfet them.

"Please check your baggage leg."  The other signs all said "Please check your baggage TAG."

And I posted this one before, but it's too good not to put in here with the rest.  This was in our hotel bathroom in Nanchang.

  1. Great post. Obviously I love reading about family updates but this post brings China back to life. I heard someone comment that if would be interesting to hear someone from China comment on what we eat/serve/sell that they think is strange. I will have to remember to ask that sometime to the right person. So glad you are back into blogging.
