We've had a very warm fall, and it's been nice to be outside. Samuel likes to walk up to the school yard close to our house and throw a ball for the dog. One Sunday afternoon Caylie and I went, too, and took a few pictures.
Jim and Samuel at the school playground. Our dog Jack is up there with them. He can climb and jump up pretty high and then slide down the slide.
My beautiful girl!
Taylor was there, too. We laughed about how he used to play on this playground when he was little and went to this school.
Samuel was in his first school program with his Chinese class. They did a Chinese dance. We ended up having seats near the back, so I didn't get a good picture. He acted all shy about dancing, but he was very proud to have us there to see him.
Samuel with his Chinese teacher, Kang Laoshi.
Caylie got her ears pierced! She was very excited and has done well with them. We can't change her earrings till almost Christmas time, though! Oh, and in this picture you can see that she keeps losing teeth! There have been three so far.
But she is still very little. At 6 1/2 years old, she is only 39 inches tall. Here she is with her friend Payton, who is actually a month younger than Caylie!
Tessa is getting very big! She is into everything and knows what she wants! (And what she doesn't want!) I still hang out with her on Mondays and Fridays when Brittany decorates cakes at Dairy Queen. Here she is with Uncle Taylor.
And here she is in her giraffe suit!
I got this for Caylie a couple of years ago.
It fits Tessa perfectly now, but she doesn't like the big head!
And here she is with Auntie Caylie in their Chinese dresses. Thank you, Juleanne Ainsworth - it fits her perfectly!
(Though it is hard to get a photo of her standing still!)
Samuel is having a lot of fun discovering so many American holidays and traditions. He had no idea what we were going to do with these pumpkins! But he soon figured it out, and had a great time. Taylor and Brittany were here to help! Of course, it's old hat for Caylie now, being her 3rd Halloween with us!

Samuel decided to be a football referee for Halloween.
Good thing Dad has all the goods!
And Caylie was a pumpkin!
Here they all are, right before we went out trick-or-treating. Justin is Trademaster, a character from a book in "The Giver" series. I'm sure no one had a clue who he was, but he was happy. Samuel had a grand time ringing doorbells and getting candy. We walked all around our neighborhood, talked to our neighbors, and finished up at Taylor's apartment. It was a fun night.
Daddy has been officiating a lot of football. This was a Friday night game near our house, so Keelan, Samuel, and I went to watch. Jim was the white hat for this game and had a microphone. Samuel got a kick out of hearing Dad announcing all the penalties.
Samuel got two Lego sets for his birthday - one with his birthday money - and is a whiz at them already.
The boys have been playing Battleship. That game drives me crazy, but they seem to have more patience for it than I do!
Jack and Sammie/Buddy just hangin' out. Yes . . . if you've been paying attention, you've noticed that we had to change Sammie/Buddy's name. We adopted him from the Denver Dumb Friends League two years ago and his name was Sammie, but when we knew we were adopting a BOY named Sam, we knew the dog's name had to change! So now he is Buddy, haha. Poor Buddy isn't doing so well, though, and probably won't be with us much longer.
Today we had our first snow of the season! It was just an inch or two, but Samuel was very, very excited. He had never seen real snow before, being from southern China. He couldn't wait to put on his coat and go touch it! Then he was throwing it into the air. I'm looking forward to having a really good snow, so we can take him sledding and introduce him to the fine art of snowman making!
