Hanging out in Guangzhou

I'm sorry for the lack of posts.  It has been almost impossible to get our VPN to work here in Guangzhou, and therefore I have not been able to get to this blog or to Facebook.  But here I am, online on Thursday night (Thursday morning back home) and everything is actually working!

We've been going to appointments - on Tuesday Samuel became legally ours at the Civil Affairs office- and yesterday we went to the passport office to have his passport changed.  Yes, I said changed.  It turns out that the family he was with for 10 years had a passport done for him.  We've been playing in the pool every day.  Samuel loves it, and Justin is a fish after 13 months of lessons last year!  We've been walking around stores and finding new restaurants.  And we've been entertaining ourselves as much as possible in the hotel room.  (Actually, it's an apartment.  I need to do a post with pictures of it!)  We've met some new friends and are waiting for more friends to come to Guangzhou tomorrow.

I took this picture as a re-do of one I took two years ago in the playroom at the Garden hotel.  (Check out this post!)

Big, goofy kids!

Looking out from the playroom window.  This was our view from our room last time, but now we're on the other side of the building.

I met up with my friend Melanie just as she was leaving to go home!  Glad I caught her just in time, with her sweet girl!  She is also with AAC.

I have no idea what Jim and Samuel are doing.  I just found this on my phone!

Caylie was very happy to find Elsa and Anna at the Aeon store!

And Jim and Justin found some cool hats, haha.

Caylie got a little doctor's kit, and is giving Jim a shot.

Samuel enjoying his snacks and new yoyo.

 Legos are a team-building experience.

Justin being Justin.

More Legos.

Our guide on passport day was Lily, who was our Guangzhou guide with Caylie.

 Fun in the pool.

Man playing an interesting instrument on the street.

Today we went to Yangchun to see the home where Samuel lived.  More on that tomorrow!
