Book Signing with Jenny Bowen

On Monday night, Jim and I took Caylie to meet Jenny Bowen, founder of Half the Sky Foundation, as she was doing a book signing for her new book, Wish You Happy Forever.  Half the Sky is an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Chinese children living in orphanages.  Mrs. Bowen's new book chronicles the story of Half the Sky and the vast difference it has made in the lives of thousands of children.  It was very interesting to hear her stories and to have the opportunity to speak with her.

The book signing was at the Tattered Cover Bookstore.  We got there early, so Caylie enjoyed the children's section while we were waiting.  Here she is with a new furry friend.

They also had a little stage.

Happy smiles.  :)

Talking with Jenny Bowen after her presentation.

She signed our book, "To Caylie JiuChang.  Wish you happy forever."  :)

Selfie Haircut

Yep.  Somebody gave themselves a haircut the other day.  I had managed to get through almost 25 years of parenting without this happening!  But alas, she now has a chunk out of her hair.  Sigh. . .

Goodbye, Sweet Lucy Dog

We have been sad at our house this week, as we've had to have our Lucy dog put down.  She was 12 and had been declining over the last several months, but took a serious turn for the worse last week.  We knew it was time for her to go.

She was a sweet and gentle dog, and so very patient.  We are thankful for the years she was with us, and will miss her very much.

New Baby on the Way!

Last September I posted the big news about our daughter Brittany's first pregnancy, and we were so happy and excited.  But sadly, in October, I had to post the sad news about her miscarriage.  Thank you, dear friends who rejoiced with us and then mourned with us, and especially for your prayers for Brittany and Brad through that difficult time.

Today I have big news again!  Brittany and Brad are expecting a baby due in August!  We are again so very excited and thankful for this new little life.  Brittany is 16 weeks along and doing great.  We appreciate your prayers for her peace of mind and for health and wholeness for both baby and mama.  Thank you, friends.

Here's a picture I took on Sunday of my beautiful girl and her baby bump!  (Don't mind Grandpa in the background, hahaha.)

Spring Fun!

Just a few pictures of Caylie, since I hadn't posted any for a couple of weeks!

Enjoying the sunshine and warm weather!

If I tell her to smile, I either get this . . .

 . . . or this.  Either way, it's pretty cute.  :)

Playing at the park.  She hadn't gone down a slide in several months, and wasn't quite sure about it this time!

This low-to-the-ground, stationary dinosaur was a little more her speed.

Ponytails.

She's decided she liked Peeps.  With the first one, she ate meticulously around the eyes and threw them away.  But the second time, she decided the eyes were yummy, too.

And for your listening pleasure, here is a video of Caylie and Keelan playing the drums!

Happy Birthday, Keelan!

Keelan is 15 today!
